impressive moves

As I'm driving the kids to daycare this morning we are listening to the "Ding, Ding" song ("My Time" by Fabolous). Jenna says, "Mom, look at me. You like my moves?" When I tell her how great her carseat dancing is she responds, "Daddy would be so impressed!"

mother's day

Three generations enjoy a Mother's Day trip to American Girl for some shopping and lunch at the Bistro.

favorite colors

Jenna declared today that pink, purple and yellow are her favorite colors!

poop on the potty

I was astonished to find out that Jenna has been consistently pooping on the potty for Ms. Debbie. Not only that, but Jenna has been telling her when she has to go. Meanwhile we've been home changing stinky diapers. That is until tonight. Jenna successfully pooped on the home potty! Now it's time for her to practice and then move on to peeing on the potty.

To my amazement, Tyler changed the toilet paper roll all by himself without even a hint of a suggestion from me!

allergic to lights

Tyler told me today, "Mommy, I'm allergic to lights because they hurt my eyes."

hummm

Jenna lets you know when she is not happy. She will turn away and say, "hummm, ... hummm." And if her feelings still aren't noticed, she will continue with the sounds but add a cross face and then fold her arms across her chest.

The dreaded words escaped Jenna's mouth.

Sitting at the kitchen table, I hear a zipper unzipping. I look over and Jenna smiles and says, "I like to be naked."

wanting long hair

After a shower I walked out of the bathroom with a towel on my head. Jenna thought it was pretty funny. Then I took it off to towel dry my hair and Jenna was amazed that the length of my wet hair. She asked if she could go in the shower and get her hair wet so hers would grow longer too.

pj day

Today was PJ day at daycare. The kids were so excited that they could wear their PJs outside and show their friends at daycare!

roses and thorns

Our family has a long tradition of sharing the best part of our day while talking at dinner. My mom recently shared how actress Angie Harmon has a similar tradition called roses and thorns and each person takes a turn talking about the best (rose) and worst (thorn) part of their day. We tried it last night and the kids liked it a lot.

Then tonight as we were getting ready to sit down at the kitchen table, Jenna turned to me and said, "What was your stick today Mommy?" I smiled knowing she meant thorn.

Jenna: "Mommy, I like pink, not purple. Pink and blue."

ridiculous

Jenna: "Daddy, you are not wearing socks. That is ridiculous!"

firehouse birthday party

Tyler had a spectacular 5th birthday party! What could be better than a party at a firehouse where you can climb in and on the engines? Tyler was thrilled to drive trucks and be surrounded by so many of his friends. Jenna was thrilled to be invited and by the cake. I took the day off from work so that I could pull all of the details together for Tyler's 5th birthday party tomorrow. Balloons, check!
