jenna's first steps

While packing up our suite before the approximately 3-hour drive home, we asked Jenna to walk to me. Step, step. It was perfect because she was right between me and Alex. I am so thankful that we were both there to catch her big milestone!

furniture shopping

As if we didn't do enough during this long weekend, the Campbell family squeezed a visit to Basset Furniture into our Memorial Day and purchased a new dining room table. While waiting for the final paperwork Tyler took the opportunity to entertain himself with found objects.

deep creek lake - final morning

After another morning of berry pancakes and omletes at the Wisp restaurant, we headed over to the mountain coaster. Tyler was well over the 38" height requirement so he shared a coaster ride with Mommy. This kid has no fear. He loves to go as fast on coaster rides as Mommy (although Mommy wasn't like that until she was in high school). In fact, the only tears came when he found out he wasn't able to go again!

deep creek lake - sunday evening

We had the most delicious meal at the Santa Fe restaurant (Jenna sat on their bear) before we headed back to our suite. Lots of family fun, but also quite exhausting. Behind the pictures of Tyler you can see the ski lifts.

deep creek lake - at the actual lake

It was still a bit chilly to consider bathing suits (although some girls near us managed) so we sat in the shade of a big tree and had a picnic. Tyler loved his beach ball and running down the hill to the water's edge. Jenna was happy sitting by my side (and standing on the non-level surface with little troubles), putting Tyler's sunglasses on her head which she found very funny and feeding all of us rainbow goldfish.

deep creek lake - getting settled

We planned a last minute trip to Deep Creek Lake for Memorial Day weekend. Alex and I had been there several times in the winter, but never with the kids and never at this time of year. I have to say, it was gorgeous. Makes us want to get a small place there and visit many times in the future with the kids.

This time we stayed at Wisp Resort and got settled in before hitting the K9s, Brews and Tunes festival. Jenna tested out her new temporary crib and Tyler thought it was hilarious to put her bows on his head.

goosebumps

Tyler was laying next to me in bed when he inquired about something unfamiliar on his arms. What was it? Goosebumps. It is so fun when everything is new again because I'm seeing it through his eyes!

music lover

Jenna LOVES music! She waves her arms in the air and smiles. While Old MacDonald was Tyler's favorite song as a baby, Jenna's seems to be Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. If she even starts to fuss, Tyler will start singing to her and she is soothed.

birthmark?

I've had a birthmark on my upper right leg as long as I can remember. Today, while getting Tyler dressed, I noticed something; he has a small rectangular tan spot on his left shin. I thought it was dirt at first, but after some cleaning it was still there. It's still so faint that I don't think most would ever notice, but I'm keeping my eye on it to see if it changes.

body awareness

I was putting Tyler to bed and he pointed to my chest and asked, "What are those?" Well, those are breasts Tyler. His curiosity of life has extended to people's bodies.

blue angels

How cool is it when your Oma works at the Naval Academy and gets you VIP seats to the Blue Angels air show? Almost as cool as the free bus ride to the academy!!

1-year photos

A few of our favorites!

picture day at the mall

One reason for a 3 1/2 year old to behave while getting professional pictures taken? A carousel ride!! The whole family was able to go on. So fun!

jewel thief

We were standing in line at Panera just behind a 20-something girl. In the blink of an eye, Tyler was at her feet pulling on her shoes. I could not figure out WHY he would be so forward or interested in her shoes! Well, her flats had jewels as decoration and Tyler said, "Look Mommy, she has pretty rocks!" She was a great sport about it and Tyler learned that we don't touch strangers' things!
